Graduate Admissions — Permissions

The permissions model used for Graduate Admissions allows for people to have different roles in different Academic Units. The available roles are defined in the table work_role. Assignments of roles to people are defined in the table work_role_assignment.

The available roles are:

CodeDescriptionNotes
ADCAdmissions Coordinator Granted to staff responsible for managing applications. Allows access to offers, history, and edit pages of applications.
DIRDirector of Admissions Granted to faculty with overall responsibility for decisions. Allows access to offers, history, and edit pages of applications. Can edit application research interest areas.

EXTExternal/GSO Obsolete; not in use
IQCQuantum Staff Special role for IQC staff; allows them to filter out non-IQC applications from application list and edit research interest areas like those with the DIR role.

The user interface allows those with DIR or ADC roles to edit the roles for the Units for which they have those roles, as well as view the complete list of people having access to those Units.
